I am working with Final Cut Studio Pro, 6.0.4. Recently, my HD titles and motion effects have stopped functioning. When I try to create one, all I get is a black screen that does nothing except show me a little white railroad crossing sign flashing on and off. No title or effect is displayed. I tried all of the title options and most of the effects. Still nothing. What's also strange is that I can still play any HD title or effect that I have already created before this problem started. I simply cannot create a new one. It worked fine a few months ago. Since then I have done some software updates and I wonder if that could have had some effect on it. My G5 has 4 gigs of ram and a pretty new hard drive. I have recently logged some footage onto the drive. It is a 500gig drive with currently about 340 gigs of free space, so I don't see how that could be the problem. Can anyone help?

aside from that, try running FCP Rescue 6 and see if that helps...

I already have Final Cut 6.0.4. But Motion is still 6.0.2. There is no current update for motion. Should I assume that there will be an update for motion soon that will bring me up to speed with F.C. 6.0.4?

    Thanks

latest version update for Motion is 3.0.2
Not sure where you're getting 6.02

Quicktime 7.5.5 could also be causing you some problems if you
    recently updated to it.

    Steps I would try:

    1. Create a new user account on the mac, with admin privilages.
Log in as this new account, and try FCP again.
If the issue persists, then it is not your user account.

    2. Boot off your previous OS version prior to updating.
I keep two drives in my mac ( you could also use two partitions)
that has my main boot and a good mirror of it on the second drive.
I update the Main and if things act squirrely, I can boot off the
good mirror and verify if it was an update or not
that's been done causing the issue.
In you case, it may be Quicktime that did it and you may need to roll
it back. QT 7.4.5 is the last stable version I've seen and use ( 7.5 is really
buggy, and 7.5.5 is no good at fixing all the bugginess).
    Google for restore steps.

    3. Run FCP Rescue 6.
See if resetting FCP fixes the issue.

    4. Try trashing, From your user account home folder,
    go to Library/Preferences/com.apple.motion.plist
    and trash the .plist file
    for motion.

So I have motion 3.0.2 and Final Cut 6.0.4. The templates will not work. Everything is updated. I am beyond frustrated. Does anyone else still have this problem?
