  1. I'm having problems with Sony Vegas 8. Everytime I try and render, it crashes out after 50-80%. My first thought was corrupt files, but upon removing the suspect clips, it began crashing at various other points in the render process. It started with WMV, but now it appears to be happening with every codec. I'm using Win XP on a single core Xeon 2.8ghz(2x) machine. The files are from a Sony Ex1 so they're .MXF format. I have tried rendering suspect files to other format like AVI and replacing them in my original troublesome timeline, but also no change. Tried rendering without audio, no change. I'm mainly rendering in 720p but 1080p is failing also. Help me please.

You might be running out of RAM. Try rendering a shorter segment.

  3. Are you getting an error message? What kind of crash? BSOD or something else?

Check your temps with coretemp. If they are high, clean out the dust in your HSF, ensure good airflow etc...

Might be a good idea to check your ram integrity as well with memtest64+

I've never seen this with Vegas but in older days I experienced this when tmp files filled the hard disk.
