When converting avi to divx using "Divx Converter" the audio in the converted file is very soft.

Soft to the extent that when playing back on a standalone I have to turn the volume waaay up.

Any ideas on how to control the audio volume when converting??

Why convert to divx? The avi could already be in avi divx.

Or does not the avi work on your standalone? I would try reconvert it using avi recomp instead then.

How does one figure out whether it's already in avi divx format?

    mediainfo and gspot
are apps to get info on your media

you could also pull the audio out,
normalize, re-encode, and mux it in again,
if the video is ok, leave it be
