I have a new laptop Sony AR61M and when I burn videos to DVD and try to play in my home DVD player the video skips and freezes a lot

I use DVD flick v1.3.0.0 to convert and burn seperatly with ImgBurn v2.4.2.0, I have also burned straight from DVD flick.

The last 2 times I have done this using my laptop both times I have ended up with unwatchable DVD's but all the other times I've done this is with a different laptop and a external DVD burner (the disk drive didnt work for that laptop) and had no problems what so ever.

I always use the same batch of DVD-R disks and I have burned audio CD's successfully with the laptop.

Is there a way to test the drive or even the divx/avi files i used for some sort of errors?

  2. imgburn would report if it was having to re-try burning sectors, so it's probably not the drive. it may be a drive/media compatibility problem. i'd buy some new blanks and give them a shot. preferably verbatim or taiyo yuden in the -r flavor.

I just tried to burn the disk again, I burned the iso that was created earlier but this time I did the verify process because I accidently skipped it last time cause the disk ejected so I thought it was done.

This time I closed the disk tray and it started to verify but it failed with this problem

    what is this?

Im planning on buying some Verbatim disks, minidv2dvd suggested I should try better disks too.

Is the problem because of the media?

  9. usually is, if the burner is reasonable new , try a burner cleaning disc, the type with the little brushes on a dic.

    oh noooooo

    I just bought some Verbatim dvd-r's http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/store/pcw_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0510795122.122029...ory_oid=-24872

Did the same thing, converted avi to iso using DVD Flick then burn with ImgBurn but the verifing process had a error again

I burned ok but failed the verify, does that mean bad file because it can be bad disk again....can it? Can you test a file for errors?

    Tbag,

Since your burner is only burning the 16x Verbatim disks at 8x anyway, and I've seen much more discussion of the worth of the 16x than the 8x (both Verbatim), it would probably be worth getting even just one of the 8x Verbatims to try.

Other than that, the burner thinks it burned the data correctly to the disk, but has problems reading the disk it just burned. If you get the same result when using 8x (or 4x) Verbatims, there's nobody left to blame but the drive.

  14. Also, perhaps, may be...........

Too many other programs running, defrag your drive, virus check?

In control panel , uninstall the drive, re-bbot and reinstall it.
