Hello:
I hope somone can help me with this.
I have these videos that supposedly are in .mpg format but when I open them in windows media player it says that the file has an .mpg extension that doesn't coincide with the file format, then I used GSpot to find out what codec was needed and it tells me that the file is ASF (WMV/WMA), now, the question is how do I correct this? do I have to re-encode it or convert it with some program?
I realle thank anybody that can help me.

codec need to play (wmv/wma) try diff player.
you wont convert if you cant decode first. -
Do the videos play if you rename the extension from .mpg to .wmv? Windows Media Player should be able to play those correctly.
Never heard of WMP ever reading a video and mentioning the format doesn't match the extension, though. If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?
