OK, I came here in the past & was referred to a brand & model of DVD burner to get & was steered in the right direction, the burner lasted a long time & did many many burns.
I again come here to see if the good folks here can recommend me a good DVD burner to get these days?
Thanks in advance,

You can't go wrong with a Pioneer. The latest model is the Pioneer 116.

shopping I go, thanks SCDVD, you know a good place to get them & will they burn DL discs?

what about the NEC ND-3520A, I had previously owned a NEC, are the Pioneer better?

I don't have any recent experience with NEC. Many say they used to be better. NEC no longer makes their own burners.

ok that makes me want to stay away from them more.

Another vote for Pioneer. Mine works flawlessly.

I have had 4 pioneers in the past 5-6 years. All 4 are still burning strong in various PC's. I would get a Pioneer from New Egg...

That's the IDE Version. The Sata Version is a buck more. Just depends on which one you need...

If you're gonna consider getting any SATA dvd burner make sure your motherboard will be compatible with it. Not all motherboard sata chipset controllers will work correctly with sata dvd burners. When sata was first created it was made for only sata hard drives and not for optical drives. If your mobo has intel chipset ich7,8, or 9 the drive will work correctly. If your mobo has nvidia chipset then you'll need to use the latest drivers from the nvidia website and not from the mobo manufacturer. Mobo's with via chipset will not work with sata dvd burners, you'll have to purchase a sata pci controller card that uses the silicon image chipset 3112, 3114 or 3514. Also raid will have to be disabled in the mobo bios in order for a sata dvd burner to work correctly.
