A friend gave me a DVD that he authored with Encore CS3 to duplicate some discs for him. I always check to make sure a disc is good before I duplicate it. I noticed that it wasn't closed (finalized) so I made a copy and finalized it. I downloaded the Encore CS3 manual to see if it had any comment on this but found nothing. Does anyone know what to look for regarding closing a DVD when burning from Encore CS3?

Some info on the Adobe Forums here:
    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx?14@@.3c05e742/1

    From the link above:

Well, I just spoke to Adobe support and apparently they updated the burning engine in Encore CS3. The guy said the new engine will NOT close DVD's.

Ugh! My solution is to use Encore CS3 to create an image file, then use Roxio or Nero to burn the image file to DVD.

This is NOT what I was hoping for, but it looks like I'm screwed because this 'non closing' issue isn't a concern for Adobe, which sucks because it IS an issue for me

    Good Luck....

I fixed it by making an Image with ImgBurn. It's a good idea to do that in any case when making a master for duplication. By doing so, you can be confident that the disc's structure is correct.
