New Pc has windows media center, which I personaly dont like, plus i like to take my tv caps andthrow em on a flash drive and watch it on my big screen thru my philips dvx dvd player.
I had been using wintv 2000 with my older haupauggggeeee(?), but now this new card, Puretv U-48B0 and windows media center make me mad.
    So...
Are there any Free alternatives I can get that run on vista?

All I wanna do is start the tv, watch a baseball game, maybe do a quick record if im gonna miss an ininng or 2, then stop recording, grab the media file and transfer it to a flash drive.
GB-PVR is givn me fits jst installing it.

Yes you could use windows media encoder or adobe flash media encoder, but those output wmv or flash so you would have to convert them first to divx I think. They do work well though.
