  1. I've been out of the video encoding scene for a while, but recently got interested in it since I can stream files directly to my PS3 now. I have some MKV files that I'd like to convert to something to stream to my PS3. I do use ffmpegx to handle my encoding and I know that there has been issues using ffmpegx to create files which are compatible with the PS3. So what is the highest quality codec that I can use to convert the MKV files to something that's compatible with the PS3? Also, will the subtitles still be selectable or will they be encoded into the video file itself? Finally, is there another program other then ffmpegx that can convert video formats and have fewer compatibility issues?

    Thanks for the assistance!

  2. You may not need to convert the audio and video. You might be able to simply remux them into a container the PS3 will play. Try using MkvToolnix to demux and TsMuxerGUI to mux.

  3. I'm not sure what that is, but I'll check it out.

    Thanks
