ok, I know that therea are many m2ts threads here, I have tried various different ways to make it work and have problems with each so instead of replying to various threads I would make one post,

I have tried the basic avs script with coreAVC, halisplitter, and adobe premiere import plugin but when I import them into premiere it still says that it is not a valid format, or adobe crashes, I cannot import any avs files either, it crahses as well,

I also tried the batch script on the forum, I had to change the extension from m2ts to mts and it worked, but I cannot import the avs, but I could import the avc and the audio, but its extremely slow, I mean I cannot play it period, rendering takes 2-3 hours for a 5 minute clip, and I have a 2.2ghz dual core processor,

any ideas? also what is the difference between m2ts and mts, is it like .mpeg and .mpg?

    Thanks again

I cannot give you a solution in Adobe... but recommend you download the free Sony Vegas 8 trial... the Platinum version will work for the M2t files (standard Movie Studio will not) It will capture the raw M2t, which is just the HDV format Sony and others generate. This one is very good and 30 days free. The deal is, .M2t = HDV format and .mts = AVCHD format. Vegas 8 Platinum handles both... in the raw form without conversion. (mix and match in the same movie)

    Good Luck

    By the way....

If you have Vista Home Premium... you own MovieMaker. It will read .m2t also. Earlier versions of XP MovieMaker will not.

If you resize to a smaller dimension you should see a considerable speed increase. Try loading the AVS into VirtualDub and see how long it takes to convert to another format.

ok, here is an update, I got it to work on my laptop. here is what was the problem, apparently avisynth does not like vista, so I had to upgrade to the alpha release and it works like a charm, I removed haali splitter, it works without it and is alot faster without it.

here comes my next question, on my laptop the only thing that would have an avchd codec in it is the sony avchd player that came with the camera, whaterver codec that is getting used it works beutifully, however on my desktop that has the same programs, it does not work, is there any way to verify that what codec my laptop is using in order to see the avchd files, if not its not a big deal, its just easier to transcode them on the desktop as its more powerfull,

    any ideas?

    Thanks
    Travis

p.s. I tried installing the demo of coreavc on the desktop and it still did not work, so I am not sure its a codec issue, but when I open the avs file it says no directshow codec found.

Maybe the Sony codec has higher merit than CoreAVC (I'm guessing). I think CoreAVC needs Haali if I'm not mistaken. You can also try to raise the merit of CoreAVC with MediaPlayerClassic under the options settings:
