How do I go about converting audio from 29.967 to 29.970. I got a dvd and the video is 29.970 but the audio is at 29.967 and this is an official dvd, I dont know why it's like that. I want to extract the audio and put it into another video source but the fps is off.
I forgot to add, I tried in besweet and it gave me a 16mb file for some reason. The original is 130mb and 1 hour 21 minutes long.

One option is to use belight/besweet, in the advanced options you can enter the frame rate conversion
Another is to use any audio editor (like audacity) and shrink the audio by that exact fraction 29.967/29.97 (to speed up the audio)
Note that it might still be off, since different retail DVD's might have different scene editing, etc.. so it might take some trial & error. -
hi, i tried besweet and put in the two numbers and it gave me a 16mb file for some reason, if i use the presets like ntsc to pal it will produce a correct file size but not when i put in manual numbers.
How do you go about doing this in audacity, the online guide i found was to convert pal to ntsc or ntsc to pal.
is there a good guide out there? -
What kind of audio is ever listed as "FPS" instead of bits per second?

the duration of the .wav i extracted is fine. The entier movie plays just fine but what i am trying to do is take the audio from this one and put it into another video source but since the audio is wacky on this dvd it's not working quite right.
I did this alredy last week. I took the ntsc audio from my us dvd and extracted it so i can then use it on my pal uncut version dvd and it worked, i had to adjust the audio in certain portions because it goes out of wack.
but this one goes out of wack even more, so i want it to be 29.970
taking audio from one source and using it on a different source is not easy, I already realized this but i would like to make this project a bit easier on me.
Since we are on the subject I just want to add this which i find odd.
regarding that first project i was talking about, I had a really tough time getting the ntsc audio to pal settings so I just used the standard ntsc audio and kept shifting it to match it up with the video and it worked. But if i try to actually get the ntsc audio to convert to pal, it does not work, it behaves like this current project of mines, it goes out of wack almost every 10 seconds. -
If the duration is equivalent, then they match. Recall what I said earlier about different version of the movie. Some scenes may be different, causing it to not match.
Audio doesn't have a "FPS", per se, only video does
Assuming that is what you meant, and the durations DON'T match here are the steps for shrinking/expanding in audacity (assuming you properly saved as WAV from vdub)
1) open WAV in audacity
2) crtl+A to select all
3) effect=>change speed
4) enter number (percent change + or -) then ok
5) file=>export as wav

MPEG-1 Audio Layer II (MP2) audio is still listed in bits-per-second. And MP2 audio is the only MPEG audio format that is in the DVD standard.
Perhaps you know of another MPEG format that is listed in fps?ICBM target coordinates:
