  1. I find it hard to believe, but I have read that Panasonic dropped divx support from their UK Hd recorders as the feature was not used enough?. Two things really, a) How much money do they save by this? and b) they include A-B loop feature, which I can only see would be used in a shop to demo a slice of a film?. What I query is the inclusion of a useless feature and the exclusion of a useful feature. Note that in the rest of Europe divx is included on Panasonic recorders.
Sony for instance only allows divx playback from a disc but not xfr to the hard disk for playback from there. And they're allowing the connection of a usb printer(wtf?) 8)
And Toshiba? well they just seem to have completely dropped the ball, with some truly awful recorders.

And none of them, have the wit to stick TWO digital tuners in a box! (Dark arts at work there I suspect)
Have to give Samsung or Philips a go, methinks, at least they might have a customer focused offering,

Anyone know of other "Tits on a man" features on recorders?

The electronic components of the power part adopted a lot of Rubycons.

Assuming the hardware isn't in the player and not just disabled via firmware, it likely saves them several dollars per player. As for the loop issue, every player that I've ever owned has had a repeat option...and I've never used it once.
