I use the latest AVI2ISO version to transfer an avi to DVD. The image is very good with 3 passes with CCE, but the sound is completely gone. The packages included some kind of AC3 codec, but the sound is gone anyway. Can someone tell me what’s wrong?

For some reason it was unable to extract audio. If you can play them in WMP, use DirectShowSource method

If AVISource fails, DS is an alternative, the audio processes are different

I upgraded the sound from 109 kbit to 192 kbit. I didn't have this problem when I used an older version.

From the older versions to the new one it was only changed region conversions for MKV, some other bugs fixed, and new features. The core audio processes weren't changed

It must be another problem with that particular source. Try with other source

DirectShowSource uses other processes, is an alternative to AVISource

You should also use the forum of that program
