I have some vob files on my hard drive and when I test them individually the sound is perfect. When I uses DVDShrink to put them on a disk there was sound on the menu but not in thhe main body of the DVD even though Shrink had said there were 3 audio streams. Any help appreciated.

I assume that when you say "I have some VOB files" what you mean is you have a DVD structure. Just playing VOB files on their own can sometimes give odd results.

    So, questions :

What are you testing them with ? PC and software player, or standalone DVD player ? If PC, what software ?

Are these English language discs ? Shrink can be told to remove everything but selected languages. Trap for new players is to suddenly loose language and/or subtitles from non-English language films if they have English selected in Shrink preferences.

If you open the Shrunk version in Shrink again, what languages does it say it has ? How big does it say they are ?

The vobs come from a music dvd with normal structure and I tested them with Nero Show. THey have sound on my PC. The burnt disk was tested in a DVD player.

It is an English disk. There are 3 audio streams, 2 show 0 but 1 says AC3 5.1-ch English 334MB. I noticed that 1 of the empty ones was ticked and the 343 one.

Try using the audio button on your player remote to switch streams. If you find one that works then you have a mapping problem and may have to remap the default stream so your player plays the correct stream by default.

You can do it in Shrink in Re-Author mode. Drag the title across to the lefthand pane, then right-click on it and select Remap Default Stream (or similar). Otherwise you would have to use something like PGCEdit.

I tried the audio streams on the DVD player and there were 3, 2 slightly different 5.1 streams and stereo. None of them work.

No, not from disc - no sound. The individual vobs ALL have sound.

Which VOBs ? The before or after ones ?

Both. The after ones produce sound in DVDShrink for example when testing them after authoring.
