  1. Ok I captured some analog video(home movies) using virtualdub(following the guide here) and then encoded to svcd using tmpgenc(also using the guide here). When this was done I played it using mediaplayer and the picture looks squeezed on the sides but everyhting is in sync. Why does it looked squeezed? Is this because of the 480X480 resolution?

Then I loaded that file into DVD Factory to create my SVCD. I made a menu with an mp3 track in the background and then burned it to disc. I take it to my DVD player(pioneer 440) and the menu comes up fine. I then play the movie and the sound is out of sync. Anyone have an idea why?

I then bring the disc back to my computer to have a look at it but neither of my drives can look at it? Is this normal for a disc created with DVD Factory?

    Thanks in advance.

  2. I also wanted to add that when I play it on my DVD player it is letterboxed not squished when played in media player.

it is normal that media player play svcd mpegs in 1:1 aspect ratio format...play with windvd/powerdvd to get the real aspect ratio 4:3(it will stretch to picture to correct 4:3 ratio).

  4. Thanks for the info. When I play it on my DVD player it looks like letterbox it's just a tad squished looking, but not much. The real problem though is audio sync. If I play the finished SVCD on my computer(windvd) everything is in sync but when I play it on my DVD player the sound lags by a few seconds. I didn't have this problem with Nero but Nero doesn't do the cool menus like Factory. Anyone else have this happen? Any suggestions?
