Hey all. TIA for any help.

Basically, I'm running short on time, and I need to make a DVD with a photo slideshow and I also need to have the original photos on the disc as well. Can that be done? I already have the slideshow made in Photostory 3 for Windows (wmv file), and all the files will be in a folder. So I can put both of these on a DVD that will play in a standard DVD player, right?

I guess the problem I'm running into is that I have no idea what the lowest common denominator will be. I know my DVD player can play .wmv files and view pics, but I don't know if others would need a fully authored DVD for their players. Can an authored DVD be made with the original files available as well?

So if you guys can help, I'd greatly appreciate it. Let me know if I should give more info.

Also, is there a preferred format b/w DVD-R and DVD+R. I don't really know which one is more compatible with commercial DVD players.

    Thanks!

DVD Flick will author the video_ts folder from your wmv file and use Imgburn to burn the dvd. If you put your wmv and/or the original photos into a folder called "extras", you can then include it in imgburn when you burn the dvd, free space permitting of course.

Thanks for the help. Ran into a problem though... When I try to add title in DVD Flick, I get the message: The video codec "Microsoft Photostory 2" is unsupported.

Any way I can get past this?

photostory outputs WMV video, which should convert. It sounds like you are trying to load the photostory project file instead.

I would first google for Papa John and find his photostory profiles. You will be able to use these to output much higher quality than the default profiles. Then use these to create a WMV file that you can then load into DVD Flick.

You should then consider upgrading to photostory 3, which is a freebie download from Microsoft.

Well, crazy thing is, I'm using Photostory 3. Not sure why DVD Flick said Photostory 2.

And the file I was trying to import was the WMV file. I'll check out the Papa John info though. Maybe it'll help.

Thanks for the help all. I got it working after I converted the .wmv to a mpeg file using blaze media pro. Then I put the files into DVD Flick.

  9. ProShow Gold gives you the choice to add the to slide show programme all the original photographs. I just do it as a standard thing. People receiving the slide show can also make their own prints from the files. Mark
