Even though I can properly encode/convert to mp3 properly in Adobe Audition (ex 128kbps 44100Hz)...
In Vegas Video it seems the mp3 codec (displayed as MPEG Layer-3) only lets me encode it some other ridiculous mp3 format (ex 56kBit/s 22,050 Hz) as the highest....

Why is this? I usually have to use an uncompressed PCM in Vegas - Convert in Audition - reattach in VirtualDub, just to solve this problem. Can someone lead me to the proper mp3 codec I'm supposed to install that will work for Vegas Video as well?

I believe you have to license the MP3 encoder in Vegas separately.
