    there are a few applications that will and cannot be removed via Add/Remover Programs for some reason, I have successfully deleted "Windows Messenger", the really old one by selecting RUN and running a command, but I cannot find a way to delete MSN Explorer

    msn explorer is in add/remove programs - but it's found by clicking add/remove windows components in the left column. might be in the accessories and utilities section.....

    alright, thanks, it all works, what are windows components anyway, are they just built in stuff?

    Windows components are usually installed with the operating system when it's installed. Some are hard to eliminate completely as they are integrated with the OS. But you can disable them some times. I did that with WMP by altering the registry.
