  1. I'm thinking of getting a capturecart of some sort for my pc.
I was planning on capturing mostly from both PAL and NTSC sources. And the "target" will mostly be VCD... What card, or what kind of card is the best? I have a PIII-500 now, but planning an upgrade soon...
    Please help me with suggestions...

  2. Personally I think the Data Translation Broadway Pro gives you the best of the VCD costing $499-$799 if you can affort it. But their Tech support is non-existant. So the question is do you want to do a real time MPEG 1 capture or you want to buy a capture card and capture in say AVI and do your VCD encoding offline? and also what is your price range? If you can answer those questions, lot of people can offer you suggestions.

  3. State your budget, please. $50? $200? $4000? More? Less?

Yes, we need to have more info....

If you have the drive space (approx. 40 gig = 2 hours) , simply get an analog tuner card (Hauppage WinTV) and cap with VirtualDub w/ Huffyuv codec. Cost 40.00 Then encode to Mpeg offline in TMPG

  5. OK. I only have 20gigs at the time, but as i said i'm planning on an upgrade soon. I can't spend too much money on this, so the price have to be under $500.

I have a Hauppage and after reading extensively about this one, and seeing lots on the Dazzle II, I do believe that the Dazzle II would have been a much better option if I could have a)bought it her in Ozland or b)found an OS supplier that didn't want $200 in freight!

Apparently its quite good. Try a search through here... http://forum.vcdhelp.com/search.php
