Hello all, this is my first post. I came across the board as I was searching for a way to make my LG BD390 consistently connect to my wireless network. Many people out there are having the same problem judging from posts on this and other forums, so I thought I would share my solution in the hopes of helping someone else who is being frustrated by this issue. Just to give you background, my specs that are pertinent are
Windows 7
Belkin Wireless N F5D8236-4v1 Router
BD 390 in a cabinet about 15 feet away from router through the wall, Maybe thirty the "long way"
The player has never failed to read a nice strong signal from my router, always being full or minus one bar. Problem was, it would only sporadically connect. My best guess would be 10% of the time. After trying all manner of tweeking my router and changing the security protocols and such, I was about to pull my hair out. Then on a hunch, I connected it to my neighbors router. It had no problem connecting, getting about an 80% success rate, even though his router only showed a 1 bar signal strength, and god only knows how far the router is away from the unit. So I thought, what gives? Working on a hunch, I reset my router to default settings, and presto, it worked almost every time. But I for one refuse to sacrifice security for ease of use. So I marched on. Tonight I seemed to hit on the answer.
So I got it to connect dynamically and I wrote down all the pertinent info (I.P., ect). I then set the i.p. to static using that information. The DNS primary and Secondary I set to 4.2.2.2 and 4.2.2.3 respectively (this I had gleaned from another forum). I then checked it...no dice. I then remembered the blurb in the manual about DMZ helping, so I set the static ip in the DMZ. To my joy, it seems to have worked. I decided to test it and get an actual percentage. While keeping in mind that this is from limited samples and therefore doesn't quite accurately extrapolate out, decided to power it on to test the connection on the connection status screen ten times. The results? 1 & 2 yes 3 & 4 No 5,6,7 & 8 Yes 9 No and 10 yes. That put it up to a whopping 70% connection rate. While not ideal, still it was much better than before. I hope that perhaps this helps someone, and keeps them from getting as frustrated as I did (I was considering saying screw it and doing Powerline or hard-wired). Cheers!
