Ripping And Converting

Hi.

I have converted some files from Avi to DVD using Allok Converter. Then used ConvertXtoDvd 3 to ripp at 4x. When disc is played the picture jumps every so often. Could it have been the converting or the ripping process that caused this?.


Also in regards to another converting and ripping project that i have done. When disc is played the picture movement is slightly speeded up to that of the original. Same again could it have been the converting or the ripping process that caused this?.

I would be very grateful if anyone could give me any advice

Skip allok converter and convert directly to dvd with convertxotdvd. If still same problem we need more information abour your source avi file, like video framerate and audio and video codecs. Identify it with gspot.

Could be any number of things at this point. The first thing to note is your usage of terms. You obviously used Allok to convert an avi file to DVD. I don't know what you did with ConvertXtoDVD. RIPing implies extracting data from a DVD, typically to your HDD for some other use. The main use of ConvertXtoDVD is to convert files from various formats to DVD (the same thing you accomplished using Allok).

It could be your conversion process (specifically, whatever you did using two apps), the conversion software (likely Allok, ConvertXtoDVD is pretty reliable), the burning application, the burner, the media, or the standalone player may not like the media type used.

I use Allok to convert because it's the fastest converter out there. And i find this software filters the picture quality. making the picture quality crisp. As you the know onverting files can suppress the picture quality.


I use convertxotdvd to ripp dvds. Because Allok DVD-Video File formats are IFO BUP VOB

And i find convertxotdvd is the best software to do this.

You really don't understand what you are doing at all, do you ?

Fast rarely, if ever, equals quality
Once quality is lost, convertXtoDVD will not restore it
ConvertXtoDVD encodes your videos. If they are already DVD ready, then this is a waste of time, and reduces quality.

Choose one converter, convert, then burn with Imgburn.

I suspect Allok is giving you poor quality, but you want speed, not quality.

IFO/BUP/VOB files are DVD files. This is the DVD. Use imgburn in Build Mode (or chose Write Files/Folders to Disc from the main menu), then choose the Video-TS folder (the one with IFO/BUP and VOB files in it) and burn to a good quality disc.
