'jerky' .avi in QT but fine in VLC player?

I have an .avi clip that plays in a 'jerky' fashion w QT. but it plays fine w VLC palyer.

I tried to convert it to .mov, and in QT its the same 'jerky' quality.

streamclip won't convert it to MPEG w mp2 audio.

anything I can do? VLC just doesn't fast forward etc as well as QT

movie inspector says: generic MPEG-4, unknown MPEG layer 3 FPS 29.97

this has happened before and Im at a loss.

QT is the crappiest of players under Windows.

You could try giving it a rinse and set with D-Vision as explained in this thread.

I have DL'd D-Vision 3

but it won't let me select the .avi file(s) in question

they are not 'highlighted'

any further ideas?

Oooooops!

fiddled and fiddled in the manner of Macs and finally found the tool section and repair and it worked fine

even had a Que!

it actually fixed 3 out of 4 well and the other is still jerky

might be in the original

looded for MediaInfo and got this:

which didn't work

looks like an interesting program though
