I have a Sony blu-ray IDE burner that was working fine in my old computer. When installed in new computer, it will not recognize a blu-ray disc. It will read DVDs. Switching it back to the old computer, it works fine.

Old computer: Gigabyte mobo, P4 2.6g cpu, 2 gig ram, XP Pro sp2.

New computer: Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L, Q6600 cpu, 2 gig ram, XP Pro sp2.

    Any suggestions?

Did you set the sony blu-ray ide burner to master or slave? check the jumper on the back of the drive and set to either master or slave. Are you using a 80 wire ide cable?

If your Blu-Ray burner is a SATA model, you might try it in a different SATA socket. What software are you using for Blu-Ray playback? Same on both computers? Same type video card?

Seems the OP has the first generation Sony Blu-ray IDE Burner, model BWU-100A IDE Internal Blu-ray Burner.
The newer Sony Blu-ray Internal Blu-ray Dvd Burner model BWU-200S is SATA.

I stand corrected. All the ones I've seen are SATA.
