hi , well i have some basic networking videos tutorials in wmv format and i would like to extract
only the audio portion and convert it to mp3 so that i can listen the files on my cellphone . i have tried using goldwave but it converts only around 5 mins of the 35 mins tutorials.
below you can find the codecs used by the wmv file:

i have been doing some extensive research here and on the net but still have not found a solution.
if someone could help me that would be great.
    thanks in advance[/img]

That seems small for an 800 x 600 video that is 35 minutes long.

It is mainly text slides ?

Have you played it all the way through ?

If it is all complete, the simplest solution might be to play it the video and record and encode the audio in real-time as it plays.

    Otherwise you might try SUPER

Goldwave should be able to do this. Just set the input as whatever the wav playback device is. This varies from sound card to sound card (I used to have on that called it 'What U Hear').

Audacity can also do this. Just open your audio editor and have a play with the recording options.

I am still not convinced that Goldwave isn't actually recording all you have

I don't use it, so I can't help you there. Sorry.

I have used Audacity. It is also pretty simple to set up, and the recording input is a simple drop down at the top of the screen next to the microphone icon.

No. You could only use audacity in this instance to record as you play back.

Give SUPER a try. It can convert most formats, including wmv, to most other formats. Assuming the file is complete and not corrupt, it should be able to convert it to MP3.

Yes, that is what I mean. Goldwave should be able to do this, but you will have to read the help files to work out how.

    Use Avidemux, open your file.wmv.

Left selection boxes, ignore Video and Format.
change Audio from "Copy" to "MP3 Lame"
    and Configure to select bitrate.

    Audio menu/Save: choose a file.mp3

    Done.

Okay, all else failing, just play in in Windows Media Player and record the output. As others said, you can do this in Audacity.
See audacity-tutorial and recording & streaming.

    Or you can use Audioflash.

First of all, use AsfBin for demuxing the audio track into a standalone .WMA.
