I got Toshiba Satellite A135-S4666 laptop about a month ago. it came with a copy of Windows Vista Home Basic on it. Unfortunately, Vista seems to have quite a few compatibility issues and it just seems to be an overall slower OS than XP. So, I tried putting XP on it but found that there were no XP drivers and the Windows Vista drivers simply don't work. I tried calling Toshiba but they told me I was pretty much out of luck as far as XP drivers were concerned. So I was wandering if anybody had experience in finding 3rd part drivers or any other ideas up their sleeves.

  2. I had similar problems with a Toshiba A200... and yes, you do need to dump that Vista crap

There are various ways of installing drivers. One particular way is easiest, but I can't mention that here as it may violate microsoft end user license agreements. The hardest way is to search for each driver manually by device id - something I'm certain you don't want to do. Luckily it is often the case, that others who have had the same problem with the same model, post what they have found.

    A quick search found this:

Hi I have an A135-S4666 too. Running Ubuntu Linux and XP on it.

I have this for Mobile Intel 945GM Express drivers:
    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Prod...ProductID=2301

    Using Atheros AR5xxx 5.3.0.35 for wireless drivers:http://www.opendrivers.com/downloado...php?href=47456

    Realtek High Definition Audio 5.10.0.5436
    http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/SOU...ver-R170.shtml

    SmartCard 2.0.0.6
    Haven't looked

    Intel Chipset 8.3.0.1013
    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Deta...13499&lang=eng

    Realtek RTL8139/810x Fast Ethernet NIC
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/win/54582

I used a program called "driver genius" and it located the driver versions needed for this laptop.
If you can't boot into XP, you may need an updated version with sata drivers. Hope this helps get you started!

All of the official drivers are listed on their webpage: http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_modItemList.jsp?moid=1757706&rpn=PSAD...ceghdgngdgnj.0

While those are mostly Vista drivers and won't help you, it will show you the hardware and models for which you need drivers. You can then go to each manufacturers website or use google.

You dug up an 8 month old post, just ask for drivers that are available on the Toshiba web site ? Or you can contact Toshiba for a replacement CD.
