    all wmv files i try to play from the web in mpc look like this:



    in vlc they're fine, what gives?

    this is on xp by the way - i have ccc and klite installed, wmp 11 installed, still no luck...

    Your first mistake is using codec packs. Secondly, many users seem to be having issues with WMP 11 on XP.

    I would try uninstalling any codec packs through add remove programs. Then use a program such as codecsniper to verify your remaining codecs. You can then download and install the microsoft codec updates.
