I do believe my hard disk (C drive) is going out. During the disk check (see screenshot) some bad sectors were found. (Also, I'm having other strange problems that seem to indicate the drive is going out.) But my question is, where is that info (that part of the disk now cannot be used) stored? I mean, if I restore the C drive from a previous Ghost image, I assume the bad sectors will remain cordoned off, right? So certainly this "location of where is bad sector" info cannot be stored on the C drive, so I am wondering where it is stored? Is it stored in the bios or someplace like that?

Windows will lock those sectors out from being used. Where it stpres that information is the FAT table so yes a Ghost image restore will use them.
You need to use the drive makers utilities to replace bad sectors with spares.
However if the surface is going bad the it will keep going bad until it is toast. Reformatting or restoring a bad drive does not fix it.
