If you don't know much about video encoding and editing it's probably beyond you. You'd have to demux, split, add in the new part, remux and then add it back into the original DVD. Pretty tricky. You can probably add in a new chapter using DVDRemakePro (payware) without dismantling the DVD, but I'm not sure.

Much easier would be to make a little DVD out of your proposal and add it into the downloaded DVD as an Intro Clip. You'd do this following the instructions in PGCEdit's Title->Import Title's Intro Clip. That way, after going to the menu and choosing to play the movie, she'll be hit by your little video, before then watching the movie in a swoon at your cleverness.

My friend, I'm going to give you the advice that only comes with (unfortunately) age and experience. I hate the fact that for decades Hollywood and TV have tried to convince us that if we do things like hire 1000 dancing midgets to spell out a girl's name or tell her "You complete me" that she will totally fall in love with us. Even worse is that both Hollywood and TV have convinced an entire generation that there is only ONE person in the entire world for each person and until you find this person you will never be happy. Reality is that if you look like Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise you can do anything you want and the girls will love it. If you look like that guy in "Knocked Up" then whatever you do probably won't work anyway.

Here's reality for you.
1) If the girl likes you, you don't have to go through such an elaborate plan to get a date. She'll go out with you if you just ask her.
2) If she doesn't already like you, NOTHING you do will change her mind.
Reality is that women make up their minds very quickly about men and whether they are romantically interested in them and they almost never change them. I can tell you from hard experience that hoping that a girl who considers you to be a friend will change her mind and fall in love with you almost NEVER happens. You'd be better off buying lottery tickets than counting on that.

So you don't have to do this because either she will or won't go out with you regardless. Doing it will gain you nothing if she already likes you and it won't change her mind if she doesn't. So you might as well not do it. Plus, you won't understand this so I'll need you to take it on faith for now, but women view grand gestures completely differently from men and even if she does appreciate it, I can promise you that she will give it far far less credit than you think it deserves. To her, it probably won't be any more meaningful that you spent hours to do this than if you bought her a single rose and gave it to her. Good luck whatever you do.

Ditto, ditto, ditto with all the posted replies. You're not making a marriage proposal. It would be creepy overkill to do something so elaborate just to ask someone out. If you show that you are trying too hard, it will just reflect a lack of self-confidence. The one thing girls are attracted to the most is confidence. If you still want to do it after all the warnings .

1. Make any DVD-compliant file from your video.
2. Author it without menu (Muxman if separate audio/video, TDA1.6 or the like).
3. Import the movie DVD and your video to DVDRemake as 2 separate projects.
4. Select VTS in the second project and copy it from right-click menu.
5. In the movie project right-click on top line of the DVD tree and apply 'Add Copied VTS' command. It will be added to the DVD project with last number.
6. Register the new title in VMG Titles, write down or remember its number.
Add a new empty PGC to VMG menu.
7. Add a cell command 'Jump VMG PGC#' (use the number of the just created PGC) to the last cell of the chapter preceeding the video you want to play here.
8. Add a pre-command 'Jump VMG Title #' using the number of your new title. Add one more empty PGC to VMG menu.
9. Add a post command (remove all existing ones) to the PGC of your new title: 'Jump VMG PGC#' (use the number of the just created one).
10. Add an empty PGC to the menu in VTS where your playback split point resides. Assign any unused menu category to it (like 'angle').
11. Add a pre-command to the last PGC created in VMG: 'Jump VTS# menu' (set 'angle' menu and VTS# in options).
12. Add a pre-command the new created VTS menu PGC: 'Jump TVS Title# Chapter#'. The chapter # should be for the chapter to play just after your video.
13. Export test DVD, then export. Probably to make it faster, you can use 'export modified files', then rename new VOBs and add them to the old DVD along with ifo/bup replacement.

L3PA. Here is some good advice for you. Don't take romance advice from a video forum and just stick to the question. if you had just left out the girl part, no one would have asked. Here is a simple way to do what you want. 1. Rip the main movie to a single avi file using autogk unless you are already dealing with a single file then just skip that part. 2. Split the movie into 2 parts using virtualdubmod. 3. Reauthor a DVD using DVDFlick or FAVC with the 3 clips and configure them to play back to back (first half then your clip then second half). These are all free applications. Good luck and go get you girl!!!

Whether you downloaded this movie legally as a rental, or from "alternative" sources, I'm sorry to say it's against the forum rules to help you with this. "Fair use" copying of a movie requires legal ownership, which doesn't apply in your case.

FYI It often requires a fair amount of time and effort to put illegally downloaded movies onto a DVD because the video format is frequently not DVD compliant, and it's not worth the trouble anyway because it ends up looking terrible even if you know what you are doing. Do you really want to spoil your grand, romantic gesture by having your prospective date watch sub-standard video of her favorite film?

Just ask the girl out politely.

Lol thanks for all the great replies. Honestly it will be an interesting learning experience, and I know I won't be with this girl for forever, but hey I like to treat them well. Again, I'm not some crazy teen with a crush, the girl likes me I like her, and I know she will say yes no matter what. I just like being clever.
