hello! i used dvd fab hd decrypter to back up my dvd onto my pc into vob file. from there i used dvd shrink to shrink down the file size of the dvd. then i used a program vob 2 mpg to turn the file into a mpg file. That took me so long and its time consuming. is there a program or a way to take the vob files and turn them into a compressed mpg file?

What is the end of the process for you ? Why do you need an mpg file ?

By my estimates, on your machine, it should take less than 15 minutes to rip the disc, 30 - 45 minutes to shrink it, and 2 minutes to extract the mpg file from the VOBs. All up, no longer than an hour or so.

Reducing the size of the source is always going to be the time consuming part, and Shrink as about as fast you will get. You will get higher quality using an encoder instead, however it will take longer.

You could try ripping to your HDD, using VOB2MPG, then using Rejig on the mpg file. It works like Shrink (i.e. it is a transcoder, not an encoder), so it is also fast. Mist shave a few minutes off the process.

However if you tell us the ultimate goal of the exercise, we might be able to give you a better solution.

Why "shrink it" and then extract the mpg? If you need an mpg file, just extract it first. If you are backing up the DVD, then you just burn the output of DVDShrink.
