    Hi All,
I'm going to be authoring a DVD for the first time. I wanted to use IDVD, but found out that after I converted and compressed the file to MPEG-2, using compressor, that IDVD would not accept the file. Of course, the easiest way would be to use IDVD, but the file is too large without compressing it down. So unless someone knows more about importing a MPEG-2 file into IDVD, then I have to learn to use DVD Studio Pro.
Going through Amazon and looking at the available books, no one seemed to like any of the offered books. What I really want is this. I'm not looking to become an expert DVD maker. I only need to do this on occasions. Maybe down the road, I'll be wanting to delve deeper into the whys and hows of professional authoring. For now, I'm looking for a good, concise book that allows me to make a good looking DVD menu as simply as possible. Sort of along the lines of DVD Studio Pro 4 for Dummies, only better. I'm not looking for an included DVD tutorial, I just want a book that allows me to use my existing files from Final Cut Pro that I've converted into MPEG-2, and make the quickest possible DVD, without a lot of excess information and confusion. As I said before, if I could use MPEG-2 in IDVD, I would do it.
Does anyone have a recommendation or two about their favorite books for DVD Studio Pro 4 that will get me up and running in no time? THanks so much for your expertise and opinions in advance.

  2. Since Bruce was the guy who taught me authoring back in the day, I'd have to recommend his book:

Matin Sitter's book is great as well. Its for v3 but will explain everything:

thanks for your suggestions Videopoo, I wish that Mr. Sitter had updated the book for v.4...do you think it is still relevant to v.4?

  4. The Sitter book is great. The v3 covers everything. Check with apple on the difference between v4 and v3 but I don't think its huge.

Yes, Martin's book is still to me the best "Get up and Get going guide"
for DVDSP3, and there isn't THAT much that changed between
v.3 and v.4, except for editing / authoring HD Projects to
DVD, and most of that you can learn by RTFM.

Get Martin's book ( for the third time recommended, twice by me
    to you already
    ) and get to learning.....

When I'm not here, Where can I be found?
