Hi Soopafresh, I put many video music clips together to make a dvd. The only problem I have is they do not have the same volume. when I watch the dvd I have to turn the volume up or down.
I have been using ac3gain in the past few months to correct the volume. ac3gain helps alot but I still have some songs with lower volume than what I want. This is what I think:
-applying the same drc to these clips at dynamic range 5 makes some songs loud and distorted,
-normalizing all the clips still leaves some songs with lower volume.
-If I can just increase the GAIN level for certain songs then my task will be bone.
Can you create an ac3gain with different GAIN levels without normalisation and drc. Thanks alot

It's all trial and error. Music is difficult to normalize, because it has many peaks and valleys. You don't want to add too much volume, but you don't want to add too little . The AC3Gain v4 has several different DRC configs you can try, but the compressor/limiter it uses can change the tone of the music. Experiment.

I guess you could convert the 5.1 audio to 6 individual WAV files, then import them into Reaper or Audigy. Do the volume changes there, then convert back to AC3 5.1 with http://www.thefrontend.net/EncWAVtoAC3/index.html
