I came bundled with a companion application (Total Video Converter) that I needed. I didn't think it would be of any use until I saw that it played FLV files. As I had just downloaded a video from Youtube, I decided to try to play the video with the TVP. However, while there is audio, there is no video. I tried the option to enlarge the screen (Alt+Enter), but nothing happened. Then, I supposed that the FLV extension was the culprit. So, I made TVP the default player for MOV files. But still the same thing: no video screen. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I could fix this problem. Of course, I could alwasy download another player. However, before I do that, I would like to see if I could get TVP to work right. I'll upload two screenshots for your viewing pleasure--one of what I'm looking at and one of the player how it's supposed to look when playing a video.

I used used TVP to open an mp4-video file and it worked. I just don't get it.

Like any other media player, you would need to have flv (not mov) files associated with the player (in this case TVP). TVP would also need to have a codec to play flv files. Most players will play flv files with the correct codec installed. There are also free players for flv files. This applies to all file types, the player will need the correct codec installed to play them.
I've never used TVP, but in most cases, you are better off using a known good player (MPC or VLC for example). You will also get better support/assistance using a more popular player.Google is your Friend -
I don't see why FLV would appear in the list of supported files if you need a codec to play them. Is this normal?

Again, I've never heard of nor used TVP. But like most other formats (Divx for example), there are several versions of flv. To play a newer version, you would likely need a new version of the codec.
To check your file associations, double click on a flv file and see which player opens. If TVP opens, what happens?
And yes, that's normal for most players.Google is your Friend
