I'm trying to backup my movie and have all of the files in the VIDEO_TS folder copied except for those of the main movie.

I'm using DVD Decrypter, then putting the files on my HD, then using DVD Shrink/Menu Shrink, then burning with Nero.

The main movie VOB files (all .99 GB) seem to "get stuck" when I try and transfer them. I've had this problem before when I was trying to backup a movie, but I chalked that up to it being an "interactive DVD" since it had a bunch of extra files on there.

This is not an interactive, DVD, though, and when I highlight the file and drag it to the folder on my HD the progress bar comes up but it never moves. Eventually it says, "not responding" like all Windows programs do when they stop running correctly.

Has anyone encountered this and know a way to avoid it? I've searched all over for what I thought were the relevant terms in this situation, but i'm still very new to this so I may have missed it. Sorry if I did.

    Thanks.

Ensure you are using the latest version of DVDFab Decrypter. If this is a new movie (ie: just released Tuesday March 4th), then you will still need the latest version of DVDFab, buy you may have to wait a few days for it to be updated to include the new protection.

An alternative, would be the latest version of AnyDVD (although the same may apply as the above statement).

Bottom line, if it is a new release, you have to have the lastest version of the software you are using AND you have to wait for the software to be updated to include any changes in the new movies.

If it is an older movie, then you either have a bad/dirty/scratched DVD or your software is out of date as noted above.

Same software I referenced above AND you don't need the Platinum version to RIP discs, the free version is all that is required.

JokerFMJ, if you're not aware of it, DVD Decrypter hasn't been updated in some time and doesn't work on many newer DVDs. DVDFab HD Decrypter does.

I would also recommend trying the freeware ImgBurn. It works better than Nero most times just for burning, IMO.

    And welcome to our forums.

Thanks for the advice, y'all... I actually finally got it transferred over, so i'm not sure what the actual problem was. It's a brand new disc so it's not dirty.

I'll definitely update to DVDFab HD Decrypter, redwudz (it does regular movies, not just HD, as well, correct?). Also, Krispy, thanks for the explanation of having to wait for certain protection updates.

DVDfab Platinum has a lot more features than the free version, and it's always good to have it. Just go to -Deleted- and get the latest serial/crack (free).

Ok, I backed up the movie with DVD Fab, used DVD Shrink and Menu Shrink, burned it and tested it as I always do...

There's no audio... Anyone have any ideas why there would be no audio?

The only thing I did different in DVD Shrink was made the "Directors Cut" an "Image Only" and took all the audio tracks off of that. I left the English 5.1 on the theatrical version...

Would this have caused the missing audio?

    --------

Correction, there is audio but it's so quiet I have to put my headphones on and turn them up all the way to hear it at a decent level.

"Image Only" is a compression setting that removes the actually video and replaces it with an image. This shrinks the size drastically and allows the movie part of the DVD to use more space on the DVD, which in turn allows the quality to be better than it would normally.
