Hi all, im new to this website im in need of dire help.

recently someone from back home has sent me a DVD with a Mpg video file on it, i have 2 Excellent DVD players that play everything, now i put it on i can see the video stream but no Audio?

I investigated more buy putting in on my PC and playing it, and it does have audio but very poor audio. now my question is would this be the audio quality or is it the DVD player which im sure it isnt because i have played .mpg before and worked both audio and video.

Help from you guys would be very much appreciated

technically you don't have a compliant dvd there. an audio track needs to be in either pcm wav format or ac3 to be a "real" dvd. not all players will accept non-standard audio. sounds like a homemade dvd. you could re-author the dvd with ac3 audio if you wanted to. the quality of the sound won't get any better but it would at least play.

Your photo isn't really helpful. Open your file in Gspot and post that here. Your terminology is confusing in your first post and possibly inaccurate. aedipuss is making assumptions that may or may not be valid about your file. I want to see what Gspot says so I know what you REALLY have before I offer to help. aedipuss' suggestions may not be correct, so let's see what you've really got first and then we will know what you need to do.

MPEG audio IS valid for DVD, but only for PAL DVD. However, playback is rarely an issue and I'm not sure that this is really what we are dealing with here as the original poster doesn't know enough to tell us exactly what he/she has. Hence my request to use Gspot.

sounds like it's just poor audio in the file. if it's important enough you can use an audio editor to increase the volume, you'd need something like soundforge 9 to work on the file.
