  1. Hello Board... I'm trying to find a white paper or some Models and Specs for the Digi Beta Tape.

Does anyone have some resources on this?

    Thanks

I think you may be referring to ED-Beta, which recorded on metal tape ? If so, I believe there were only a couple models ever made. As to specs, sometimes these units turn up on Ebay, and some specs are linked or included in the listing. If you meant a truly digital tape Beta format, that was probably not a consumer or "Prosumer" model, and would be beyond my familiarity with the subject. (You might try someone here like edDV.)

There used to be a fairly extensive network of sites on the internet called the "Betamax Webring", but the links I had for it are dead now. So, I'd suggest you start here:

(This is the diminished remnant of a more extensive site, which is no longer up.)
If you are a PAL format user, try

When in Las Vegas, don't miss the Pinball Hall of Fame Museum http://www.pinballmuseum.org/ -- with over 150 tables from 6+ decades of this quintessentially American art form.

I assume you are refering to Digital Betacam format.

What do you want to know about it? The tech? Uses? The types of tape cassettes?

Read this first as an intro then ask more.

  4. Yes, I'm refering to the Digital Betacam Tape.

I want to know detailed specs. for it... not general ones like found on Wikipedia(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Betacam). I already know that. I need this in order to compile a good reference material for the Telecine department at a FilmLab(they are a little bit confused about tape formats and the sorts).

    The more info the better.

Also a good recomandation for a VTR that records on DigiBeta whould be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

This stuff is so easy to find on Google I suggest you earn your salary or hire a librarian.

I used "Digital Betacam" and "SMPTE Digital Betacam" looking for the SMPTE RP.

If you have any application issues not covered in the spec I may have some answers.

Back in 1998, I saw ANALOG HD Betacam at the Iowa State Fair and it blows away what we accept for HD today. The display was sponsored by Iowa Public TV and was a previous spec for HD that I think was 1125.

    Just saying....

That may have been the HiVision system. It was high quality high definition analog component and looked great live but the MUSE digital compressed recorder playback was far inferior to HDCAM.
