    Another capture question.

I have a Betacam SP deck (a PVW-2800) and right now I'm using a Hauppauge 1600 to ingest/digitize video with an S-vid connection. I'm not entirely happy with it...the video quality could be better. I need a capture card/device that'll give me the most bang for the buck. I'd like something that can convert it to a lossless format, or something that'll interface with Media Encoder 64. My budget is extremely limited. My computer is an HP quad processor with 6 gigs of RAM, plenty of disk space, and I edit with Sony Vegas Pro 8. Thanks in advance.

    Explain.

    most bang for the buck
This is such a stupid expression, I wish people would stop using it.

    Give the numbers.

    Excellent specs.

It's capturing at 640 X 480 instead of 720 and I have no control over it.

The video looks muddy (soft, a reduction in resolution) during the edit phase and I know my Sony BVP-7/BVV-5 can produce better quality.

When I pan the camera there's tearing (brief instability) in the video, as if an artifact is being introduced.

I don't think it's stupid, and it's appropriate for the situation...and I couldn't think of anything more clever in the brief time I had to post this, in between projects.

I could afford about $125 for a card, new or used right now. If I can get $50-$75 by selling my Hauppauge before I buy this, probably $200.

    Thank you.
