This is a very basic question...but in my college class we are learning how to "use" support forums. HA.
Besides Sony Vegas, name 2 professional sound editing programs in use by Major Motion Picture Studios today.
If someone could give me their thoughts I would GREATLY appreciate it =)
Thanks,
Rashele

Sound editing? What kind of sound editing?
The lower to mid range pros dealing with multi-track will use DigiDesign ProTools because it is the more affordable.Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.

Actually, most of Hollywood seems to lean towards ProTools. It's more or less become an industry standard.
Another one you might want to acquaint yourself with is Steinberg's Nuendo. It's sort of a Cubase on steroids. -

The big guys will build elements with ProTools but use massive SSL type mixers for the final surround mix.
