depends on the model of the motherboard. some motherboards have (4) ddr2 slots and some only have (2). what are you exactly looking for?

im looking for a pci-e with ddr slots, got 1gig ddr and i dont want to throw them.

For just DDR memory, you are more likely to see that on a AGP motherboard or maybe an older PCI-E motherboard. But I think with PCI-E, it's mostly all DDR2 or higher. With the price of DDR2 memory being cheap, I would just toss it or pick up a used motherboard. Or you might be able to sell it on something like E-Bay. But it's not really worth getting a motherboard just to use the RAM. I just got 2GB of DDR2-800 name brand RAM for $34US after a rebate.

asrock makes one with both 2 ddr and 2 ddr2 slots. also has both agp and pci-e video slots. for intel chips up to core duo quad 1066 bus i think. newegg had them last i checked. handy for swapping out older stuff to newer processor.

The GA-K8N51GMF-9 (gigabyte) MB that I currently have has PCI-E and DDR memory.
But I'm sure that many older boards (this is certainly not very new) will fit the spec.
If you do a search on www.dabs.com, you can specifically look for whatever you desire. -
Of course, aside from failure, one of the main reasons to get a new motherboard is increased speed and support for a newer processor. The increased speed is a benefit of having a newer chipset. To support older memory, you are either choosing an older chipset or hampering a newer chipset by using older memory.
Just something to keep in mind when making your decision.Google is your Friend -
Depends on the socket used on motherboard.
redwudz is right is stating that older MB will most likely use DDR memory.
Mine is a AMD Socket 939 MB with PCI-E, and uses DDR memory (See comp specs for model) -
i need to change my pci to pci-e so i could buy those pci-e video cards and play games like crysis and gears of wars that require gf7 series or higher.
so my plan is buy pci-e video card maybe gf8 series and a new pci-e mobo. mobo with ddr and ddr2 would be good.hacking the Net using typewriter :D -
Just take a look at newegg, you can filter/search each hardware type by using an advanced search and choosing the options you want/need.
I was simply trying to point out that since you are wanting to upgrade to get more performance, choosing an older MB simply to reuse older memory will limit your options and limit your performance increase. Especially when DDR2 memory is selling at about $50 for 2GB (2x1GB). You will likely regret it later and your cpu/video card won't be as fast as the same cpu/video card on a MB with the newer memory.Google is your Friend -
is there a big difference in performance between ddr and ddr2? ddr2 is 2x better than ddr?
how about agp8x to pci-e slots?hacking the Net using typewriter :D -
The RAM chips themselves are similar between DDR and DDR2. The difference relates more to the memory controller and how memory operations are done. DDR is clocked twice at each memory timing pulse, DDR2 is clocked four times at each memory pulse. In theory, it will move twice the amount of data that DDR memory moves. Sorry if that's not a good explanation. Short explanation, it's much better.
It's similar with AGP vs PCI-E. PCI-E has much more bandwidth than AGP and can move more data.
It's both of those changes and many other different changes in the motherboard architecture, and the controllers that handle memory and data operations, that make the PCI-E/DDR2 combination faster than DDR/AGP. Maybe not twice or four times faster, but faster.
