  1. I mean your system when encoding?

I just set up a 1gig duron and My idle temps is about 37-40 and under heavy encoding I jump up to between 45-47 degrees..

I thought that was sorta high.. hows everyones temps run?

  2. 47-50C on both processors during encoding, and I have a very well-cooled case (9 case fans in addition to the heatsinks on the processors).

45-47 is not high at all. I don't know about Durons, but Athlon XP's can run fine until they hit the 75-90 range.

tinycorkscrew, okay I just have to ask why the hell do you have 9 case fans?

jasond, the temp is fine for your duron. Now if you get up around 60c then you might want to worry.

  4. Why 9 fans?

Lots of hard drives. I have a modified Addtronics W8500 case, and it can hold as many as ten hard drives, though I don't usually have that many installed at once.

The fans are positioned 1 on the side, 4 in front, 4 in back. The airflow is pretty good.

one thing i discoved when my temps were rising about 2 degrees a week, it got up to a max of 69 before i got scared and started guttin my comp... my heatsink gradually filled up with dust... all the fins on it had dust bunnys in them... i blew all the shit out of it and it ran at 45 degrees!
