I just received a Toshiba A2155-s7422 Laptop as a gift. It has a internal DVDRW driver so I wanted to back up some of my DV56+44Ds. I have installed DVD Shrink version 3.2 and I purchased Roxio Easy CD & DVD Burning (red box), at the Best Buy guy's referral. I tried backing up "Ice Age" by using DVD Shrink which it did compress it. But when I went to use Roxio to burn it, I would receive this error message " The audio files you are in AC3 form and not compatible with some NTSC. If you continue to burn this file these audio files will be replaced with silence, would you like to continue burning." I have installed AC3 Filter and that doesnt decode the audio files for me. I have yet to find anything that works for me to solve this problem. I am new at all of this so I am not sure if it is something I am doing wrong or using the wrong program. Can anyone help me with this problem? or at least point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance!

read some of the guides. <-- left border "how to/dvd backup" especially the newbie ones. lots of shrink info there. when you get a working set of ts folders on the hard drive then use the free burning program imgburn to put in onto dvdr.

    Mistake #2,
although listening to anything those poorly trained chimps at Best Buy say is a bigger mistake than #1 8)

And that right there tells you what a piece of crap roxio software is AC3 is 100% NTSC compatible!!!!!
It is part of the standard NTSC dvd specification!!!

The filter is only for listening to ac3, it has no effect on ripping & burning (copying) a dvd which contains ac3/dd audio.

Roxio will NOT copy commercially released dvd's on it's own because of copy protection.
Most people here will not even let anything roxio near their pc's.

Use DVDFab HD Decrypter (free) to rip (copy) the dvd to your PC,
Use DVD Shrink to compress the movie/video,
Use ImgBurn to burn the compressed files back to a dvdr.

All free and DVDFab HD Decrypter is regularly updated as new copy protections come out on new disc's.

If you want to pay for something, buy DVDFab Platinum, it rips, compresses and burn's back to dvdr all in one package and is also regularly updated for newer copy protections.

I'm back again and sadly to report that I still have yet to burn a single DVD. I installed DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink and ImgBurn. I used Decrypter first and that worked. It put the movie in a folder with 2 subfolders: Audio_TS and Video_TS. So I then used Shrink to shrink just the Video_TS folder. Which it encrypted and put in another folder that I was to name. So then I open that folder with the Build Mode in ImgBurn and when I go to burn the DVD I get an error message that says:I/O error!! No Reserve Tracking and then a bunch of zeros and slashes and more zeroes and slashes. Then it tells me to retry it and everytime I click retry I get the same error message. I thought I was using the programs correctly but maybe I am not. Thanks again for any help on this subject!

Oh one more thing I am using TDK DVD-R 16x 4.7gb disks. I know I have seen on some of the posts that I read that alot of them say that sometimes the error message is because of the disks that people are using. Are these considered "cheap" disks? is Verbatium disks that much better quality than all the rest? Thanks one more time for the advice!

Noahtuck told you to download DVDFAB HD DECRYPTER not DVD DECRYPTER, they are 2 totally different programs. DVD DECRYPTER is no longer updated. Can I ask what dvd movie are you trying to backup? TDK media is crappy media to use just like MEMOREX. Use VERBATIM dvd media.

When you rip a dvd disc use DVDFAB DECRYPTER to rip the files to your hard drive. That program is always updated to keep up with the newer copy encryptions. DVD DECRYPTER is not updated anymore. Open up DVD SHRINK and instead of creating VIDEO_TS folder with the compressed files, chose create a ISO IMAGE. Then open up IMGBURN then burn that ISO image you created. For newbies I think this is the easiest way instead of using the VIDEO_TS folder. But I think your problem could be that you're using DVD DECRYPTER to rip your dvd files.

I am using DVDFAB HD Decrypter, sorry that I left off the HD part of the program. Thank you again for the help. After work I will go get Verbatim DVDs. I have tried to backup "Ice Age 2" and then I tried "Borat". I have been trying for the past several days so I got upset and I stopped trying any other movies. So hopefully my problem will be solved by using the new DVDs to backup the movies on and to change to create ISO IMAGE instead of using the Video_TS folder. Thanks again!! =)
