I used DVD decryptor, then DVD shrink. I set it up to burn with Nero. I even check boxs to make my DVD+R compatible. I get this message (sorry to make it so long, can someone please help and identify my problem):

That's usually a communication error. You seem to have DMA enabled, but that's one cause. For lack of any other ideas, you might check to see if anything is running in the background. Some programs like anti-virus can interfere with the data flow.

And I would always try a different brand of DVD media, just in case the problem is related to that. If it was a external USB writer, that would be a more common error.

Lastly, try burning the VIDEO_TS folder with ImgBurn in 'Build' mode. It generally does a better job than Nero, and worst case, you will have more data is the burn fails.

And is this a new problem and everything worked before? Or have you made any recent changes in the system?

Someone else may spot something else in the log and have a better idea.

    And welcome to our forums.

You might want to remove the 3 lines starting with "1A..." at the top of your post as these are your Nero Serial number
    If in doubt, Google it.

I used DVD decryptor, then DVD shrink. I set it up to burn with Nero.
Untick burn with Nero and set DVDShrink to save as an .ISO to burn with DVDDecrypter. This will help determine if it's Nero's fault. Also note the last version of Nero 6 no longer plays well with DVDShrink. Although it's kind of confusing what version you have.

    Nero API version: 6.6.0.12
    Using interface version: 6.3.1.4
    Installed in: C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\
    Application: ahead\Nero - Burning Rom
    Internal Version: 6, 6, 0, 12c

Does ImgBurn correctly id the discs? What are they?

Seems to be a rather old drive that wasn't held in high regard. New OEM drives are dirt cheap.

Well, that one is mainly a 'power calibration error'. When a burner starts to write to a DVD disc, it uses a special area towards the center of the DVD. It does a trail burn to set the speed and power levels of the DVD burner for the actual burn.

When this fails, it can be for several reasons:

Most commonly is the burner does not have a burn strategy for the media you are using. You can try different media or update the firmware of the burner.

Other causes are a power supply that doesn't supply enough power to the burner to do the calibration. This is more common with external drives. You can unplug other drives to lessen the PS load for a test.

Last and least likely is a failing burner. But anything is possible. You would probably get this error on all brands of media, though. Some HP burners don't have a good reputation, so still something to keep in mind.

But media is the easiest and the cheapest thing to change. I would try some DVD - media, and use a different brand. One item I couldn't find in the Nero log is the media code that identifies the media. But I may have missed it. That's a little unusual and could also point to a media problem.

Does anyone else see a problem with using DVDDecryptor with a movie that was released only recently(IF the movie title is correct - Shooter)?

    Also:
HP drives....I recall reading several horror stories about those here.
Destination Media Type: DVD+R (Speeds: 2x, 2.4x) - Haven't seen those speeds for quite a while....how old are these discs?
Write Speed: MAX - always a bad idea.

Write Speed: MAX - always a bad idea.
the movie he's trying to backup is a newly released dvd movie called, "SHOOTER". Can't just use DVD DECRYPTER because it's no longer updated. Newer copy encryptions are in the newer released dvd movies so you'll need to use DVDFAB DECRYPTER. qwazi in order to rip the movie files use the latest version of DVD FAB DECRYPTER then use DVD SHRINK. Then burn with NERO or IMHO use IMGBURN which is better than NERO.

(Download the one that says, "Download 3.1.5.6 Beta (Aug 7, 2007)")

Also as suggested use better dvd media than those 2x-2.4x speed discs that you have & don't burn at the maximum speed, burn at 8x - 12x speed depending how fast your HP dvd burner is. Buy some VERBATIM dvd media.
