    Hi There,

I have converted one of my .AVI file into .WMV format and tried playing it in PS3, but it says un-recognizable format.

(Note: I did set my PS3 options to play WMV (enabled) and is even upgraded with recent firmware)

But not sure why my WMV file couldn't play in PS3. I also tried to play one of my DIVX files, but the same message.

Am I doing any mistake here?

Is there any specific software, which can convert my AVI file into WMV format, which will play fine in PS3?

Also, is there any specific software to convert it into DIVX file and it can play in PS3?

I have lot's of MiniDV cassettes to be converted into either WMV or DIVX, so I can copy them into PS3 Hard Drive and play it when ever I want. (any suggestions on this please)

Please let me know your best suggestions.

    Thank you all in advance.

I would use something like RipBot264(it has ps3 profiles) and convert to mp4 with h264 video codec.

    Hi Baldrick,

Yesterday night, I gave a try with Ripbot264, it really looks cool and easy to use.

But, the first time when I am trying to convert one of my AVI file to MP4, I selected an option to save the MP4 file into c:\ folder.

somehow, it did converted to MP4 file, but after it is converted, I couldn't find that file in C:\ folder. I did a search thru entire hard drive for .mp4 file, but I couldn't find it.

Later, I converted the same file and saved it onto my Desktop, and I am able to see the file on Desktop.

I am really not sure why this was happened.

I used this on Windows Vista machine, if that makes any difference.

    Thank you for your input.
