I was going to recommend an Oppo Digital player, but they are too expensive for you. If you need Arabic subtitle support for Divx, you definitely need to mention that as you are likely to get suggestions for various players sold in North America and Europe and they typically can only display Latin and Cyrillic character sets for Divx subtitles. Philips makes various cheap DVD players that support Divx, but whether they can support Arabic subtitles or not is something that I don't know. The models they sell in North America and Europe definitely do NOT support Arabic Divx subtitles.

No I don't need SRT arabic support, what I need is either idx/sub support or divx subtitles support (the subtitles which I make using tools like avisub and sub2divx).

all I need is a very good divx/XVID support.
btw, what about Samsung dvd players? how good are they?
and what is the best philips DVD player for my needs and at a cheap price?

    thanks for your replay.

  5. I can find this Philips 5982 in Bestbuy Canada but I cannot find it in the review section of this forum.

Do you know if this one plays both PAL and NTSC?

As noted above about the subtitles, type of subtitle support is different from the language support that you want/need. In other words, regardless of the format srt/idx/sub, the player still needs to support the language you want/need.

And there are numerous posts here concerning the Philips 5982. Just perform a quick search.
