I am trial version currently and this is the major sticking point so far: When I play in full screen mode, the black space does not actually fill the entire screen in full screen mode; there are gaps to the right and at the bottom, through which you can see whatever windows are open behind the player.

This is reason enough for me not to buy and keep looking. Has anyone encountered this?

    I'm using XP v2002 SP2.

    Thank you.

Ensure you have the latest drivers for your video card.

I use PowerDVD 7 all the time. Switching to Full Screen mode fills my entire screen. So this is likely a video driver issue or settings you've changed in your video options.

Will do, thanks for the tip. I do however run several other DVD applications that do not have this problem.

I would also like to add, that the taskbar isn't even covered in full screen mode, so I have to set it to auto hide

This is in regard to the TV display. When I set the picture to appear on the monitor display (I'm using dual mode display) the full screen is OK there.

Could be a result of how you have your two screens configured within the video options. Overlay controls sometimes control this and there are often options to choose a TV as your second display and settings to fine tune the picture. Bottom line is it should all be adjustable within the video settings, which are part of the video card drivers.

Power DVD may not play nice with dual monitors and that might be your REAL problem. I have NEVER seen your problem on a single monitor system and I have used various versions of Power DVD for years on various systems including XP SP2. It could also be an overlay issue as Krispy Kritter states.

Asgrrr - Did you ever find a solution to this problem? I have the exact same isues as you have listed.

    - Task bar stays ontop when using Theater Tek and PowerDVD. It never use[d to do this unitl recently.
    - Power DVD shows HD DVD and BlueRay movies with a black boarder around the picture. This also never used to happen untill now that I have done a fresh install.

I have tried two versions of powerdvd and I have reinstalled my ATI drivers (X1900T 7.2 Catalyst), but I still get the same issues. The task bar issue was hapening on the last build and the new build.

If you or anyone can shed some light on this it would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advanced

Update - I have managed to get PowerDvD displaying the picture correctly. There was an update in Windows update for my ATI card (X1900XT) even though my drivers were upto date (7.12 Catalyst).

The task bar issue is still there, but I can get round it by setting the media player to 'Always be on Top', not ideal but a work around of sorts. I would like to know why the task bar isn't being hidden like it used to be. The only thing I think I have changed in the previous build was a new version of Vista Codec pack.

Anyway I hope the above info helps some one who is also stuck with the same problems.

I'm having the same full screen issue with catalyst 8.1. The only update in windows updates was an audio driver, and I'm on a 2600XT.

All other applications, powerdvd with non hddvd/bluray, and even powerdvd 7.3 ultra build 2830 work fine. Powerdvd starting with build 3104 have the border problem.

Is anyone else experiencing this? I thought I was alone with this issue but maybe not...
