    Hi,

I'm looking for recommendations for a camcorder and editing software to help win back my soul mate with a confessional type of video presentation. I'm a complete amateur and have zero experience with modern camcorders and editing software. I have a PC with WinXP. I'm not interested in anything super special since I'm only buying the camcorder for this one occasion.

Since it's a confessional, I'll be filming it by myself as much as humanely possible making me wonder what kind of additional equipment I might need. I'm thinking a tripod and some lighting, but I have no clue. I want to film some scenes outside as well if possible since I live in Las Vegas.

I'm also looking for recommendations for a good PVP player. I'm primarily interested in how good the picture is since I will be sending the video presentation to her on the PVP player. I want to make sure that I can put my video on whatever PVP player I get. I have heard the Archos 604 and 605 are the best for their picture quality.
Thank you in advance for your help. It's really appreciated.

You're gonna end up regretting doing that. Honestly.

I really feel for you but I would forget the camcorder and editing software, since you have no experience with this equipment. Take my advice and spend the money on a good "SHRINK". Also, I have another solution, the best medicine for your situation is find another soul mate as soon as possible. I have been to Las Vegas many times and never had a problem finding a beautiful woman for the night.

I would suggest just sitting down with him/her at the kitchen table and having a frank discussion about what caused your separation in the first place, and work it out to see if you can resolve your issues. That would be far more effective than any video you could make. Out of curiosity, what caused the separation in the first place to make this necessary?

Agree with the others, but anyhooo

Back on topic... :P Any recent 3ccd mini-dv should be fine, that's all you really need. Don't need a tripod or lighting, tripod is nice though. Place the cam on a stable surface if you don't have one, if you're using indoors just make sure you the subject is well lit. A couple of lamps with shades to diffuse the light at various angles will suffice but considering you're not trying to recreate the godfather I would go too overboard with the lights. You only have to make sure its sufficent, cheap mini-dv's are notoriously poor in low light but otherwise work great especially outdoors in well lit enviroment.

As far as software goes get Ulead Video Studio, cheap and easy to use with more features than you will need.

You must be joking... If not, well a camcorder won't fix your relationship problems. Seems like you watch too much Adam Sandler....

Thanks for reminding me that this is a video forum and not Dr. Phil. Your help is truly appreciated.
