I purchased a Sony DVD recorder RDRGX455 which includes a digital tuner this last December. I have recorded a few shows via the tuner and some via the analog inputs from LD or VHS tapes and 8mm Camcorder. It appears to has a slight lip sync issue. (.5-1sec) The problem does not get worse as the video is played. It is the same delay through the whole video.

Is this common with DVD recorders?
Are some recorders worse than others?
Does the media type matter? -R, +R, -RW, +RW

I do not know if I am being overy sensitive to this or if i should take it in for repair. Sony says they do not have this problem. i have found very little on this subject for recorders.

Anyone else have this recorder and how do you like it. I feel that the video quality is excellent.

This is not common with DVDrecorders.

If the problem occurs when playing back on the same recorder and is independant of the source (digital tuner or analog) it is a defect in the recorder - either it's broken or inadequately designed. Even very inexpensive DVDrecorders can maintain audio sync.

If it only occurs with the digital tuner, it could be either the source or the recorder.

If the problem appears to be the recorder and I could return it for a refund - I would. I suspect its probably a firmware problem in the unit, and unless the manufacturer acknowledges the problem it is unlikely to be fixed.
