If your DVD player is capable of playing DIVX/XVID (and this is format the AVI movie), then you could save it as a data file and fit many more movies on 1 DVD
If not, then a free alternative to convertxtodvd would be FAVC -
The format needed for stand alone DVD player is what is refered to as the VOB files stored in the VIDEO_TS directory.
MPG format files will play in your computer. -
pitten247, what type of DVD player do you have? Many videos 'off the net' will play directly on a standalone Divx player if burned to a data disc. If not, you may have a regular standalone DVD player. For that, you would want to convert to a DVD format. If you have to do a framerate conversion, like PAL<>NTSC, then it gets a bit more complicated.
ConvertX or FAVC are good choices for that.
