    so i have an AVI movie, what format do i want to have it to put on a blank dvd to work in my dvd player? thanks

  3. If your DVD player is capable of playing DIVX/XVID (and this is format the AVI movie), then you could save it as a data file and fit many more movies on 1 DVD

    If not, then a free alternative to convertxtodvd would be FAVC

    The format needed for stand alone DVD player is what is refered to as the VOB files stored in the VIDEO_TS directory.

    MPG format files will play in your computer.

    pitten247, what type of DVD player do you have? Many videos 'off the net' will play directly on a standalone Divx player if burned to a data disc. If not, you may have a regular standalone DVD player. For that, you would want to convert to a DVD format. If you have to do a framerate conversion, like PAL<>NTSC, then it gets a bit more complicated.

    ConvertX or FAVC are good choices for that.
