    Hi,

I want to build an HTPC with a Skystar 2 card to watch and record satellite programs. (I already have a standalone receiver connected to three LNBs oriented on Astra, Hotbird and Atl Bird).

Well, my question is about recording the teletext subtitles. I prefer to watch some films with the teletext subtitles for deaf and hard of hearing people.

Is that possible with the Skystar 2?

If yes, what software do you need to record the teletext subtitles?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi,

I am sure the correct question would be: can I build a Graph to display subtitles and teletext?. Because I am not in Spain, I cannot assure that this would be possible, but I believe that with the correct codec combination, and a DVB application, such as ProgDVB or DVBDream there is a good chance of success.

It is very easy to build a custom graph once the encoders/decoders have been installed, and I am talking about ffdshow, which can be configured to display subtitles, you may find it here:
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow

The tool used to build graphs is called GraphEdit.

Of course, this is only in theory considering that I cannot experiment with your DVB transmissions.

Keep in mind you need a decent machine with a decent video card to render the picture correctly on the computer monitor, I personally prefer the Geforce series, at least a FX5200 or above. The Skystar 2 gets a little hot, so good ventilation is a plus.

    Buena suerte.
