    Hi Guys,

No doubt 5982 is a great DVD player. I brought it for $54 ( incl tax and shipping) .

    The problem is USB
    1) 4 GB Kingston pen drive works great.
    2) Seagate 500 GB too works fine.
    3) WD 120 GB passport doesnt work.. Can somebody help how can I make it work ?

I formatted in FAT32 ..even tried single partition as well as multi partition , no success .
I checked the drive it seems the motor is not running ...its unable to draw current from the DVD player USB port ...

    Hello Friends,

Finally I got a solution to make Passport HDD work; Philips DVD player doesnt supply much power from its USB port so these passport mechanical drives cant work.

Get this cable from somewhere. I borrrowed from my friend.

This has two USB ( male A Type )

    POWER
    POWER+DATA

Put the POWER one to laptop and the other one to DVD player and this way it would work.

The second thing I'm gonna try is
    1) Take mobile charger( Moto Razr) which has mini -A connector on other end.
    2) Get a mini USB receptor -to- A type receptor. I didnt find any cable still searching....
    4) Connect and this way u dont need Laptop to power the drive.

Seems like less hassle and aggravation to just get a HDD that will work with the player.
