Im trying to convert a 6ch DTS audio file to 2ch AC3, im having trouble with both Belight and BeSweet GUI
at 1st Belight wouldn't work as it said it need BeSweet.exe so i copied all Besweet files into Belight...
Now Belight creates a blank/empty file and besweet GUI wizard just opens notepad logfile and closing it/saving it doesnt make the job start?
what would i do now?
I have tried foobar2000 and it just creates White Noise, i have the correct DTS dll installed aswell

Is this a DTS file from a SD DVD?
Also, unless I'm mistaken, DTS audio isn't officially (completely) supported as of yet.Google is your Friend -
Sometimes you need to run the DTS file through a fixer app like DTSparser
http://forum.doom9.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=7972&d=1199902229 -
it happens again - FOOBAR2000 says when converting DTS to MP3 your converting one lossy format to another so sound quality will be lessened to compensate... or summit along those lines...im gunna convert to wav then mp3
-
I was stumped why foobar couldn't do the conversion even with the 0.1.7 DTS plugin, so I downloaded a free sample DTS file here (the first one)
http://www.diatonis.com/downloads_dts_ac3.html
I couldn't play in foobar at first, so I renamed the .wav to .dts and was able to play it. I also confirmed in VLC that it was a dts file (view => stream & media info => advanced info)
I was able to convert it to a .wav (right click, convert). The output file was able to be played in everything (winamp, vlc, etc...). This should work for you.
Note that you might have to change 44.1KHz to 48KHz if you play on a standalone DVD player (not sure if convertxtodvd will do this for you) -
Yes, I just tried encoding DTS->mp3 using LAME (in foobar) - didn't work

right problems problems
Belight and Besweet do absolutely NOTHING? why is this
i have redownloaded them...
Now have encoded the DTS to WAV but now foobar reports that the lengthis as such:
DTS audio: 1:48:42
WAV audio: 1:02:08
but it doesnt SOUND faster... perhaps FOOBAR is reading it wrong as its a 3.6Gb file???
Besweet etc wont convert the WAV or the DTS...? one creates empty files and the other wont start? -
.....it seems FOOBAR wont convert DTS to anything but WAV and to do so wont go over 1hour of audio (3.6Gb)...???
What can I do now? -
Wow that sucks...
I was able to convert the DTS sample to mp3 using MeGUI's audio portion (MeGUI is very very difficult to use at first). It could probably convert your DTS track without the duration discrepancy (I think this because it's probably the premiere tool used to encode high quality x.264 mkv's)
I guess it depends how bad you want to put this thing on a DVD -
well i would like to - dont like to be beaten either hehe
MeGIU - i will give it a go... -
well I got the DTS->WAV->AC3 and used AVI2ISO to encode the MKV with the new AC3 external sound and the sound goes out of sync more as the film progress's thing was after encoding the DTS->WAV->AC3 the time for the audio file was still the same as the movie 1:40:08
Such a shame to get so far with it to give it up now but it doesnt look like anything else can be done other than keep trying perhaps with the WAV this time as External Audio instead of AC3 (incase it was WAV->AC3 conversion that caused it... dunno could be fps) -
Yes guns1inger, you are correct AC3 doesn't mix with mp4 - my bad
MKVmergeGUI allows you to add/subtract delays, compress/expand tracks as well. If the sync was getting worse, this should be easy to fix -
when muxing it says adding H264 cannot assume framerate unless i change it to true framerate it will assume 25fps...
Im sure its 23.97 is that 24000/1001 ? -
well i choose 24/1001 and the sync is much better but not great...
whats the best app for playback of MKV to skip through it without itself going out of sync...i use VLC for everything and i find that sometimes when skipping through large files like these VLC will actually go out of sync itself so its hard to determine BUT im pretty certain that the audio goes out of sync as the film progresses, not as much as before just upto 0.5 second delay or so...
what can i use to determine the length of the AC3 file to ensure it correct?
also the sampling rate of the AC3 is 48k is that right? i used VdubMod to extract the WAV from MKV then BeSweet to convert to AC3....
when I open all 3 files in VLC it reports same length exact 1:48:40
the AC3 in VLC 1:48:40
the MKV in VLC 1:48:40
the Source MKV in VLC 1:48:40
so why isnt it matching up?
im certain its done at 1 of 2 stages .. when VdubMod rips the WAV file from the MKV/DTS or when BeSweet converts the WAV to AC3... the sampling rate is slightly wrong...
looks to be about half a second out 45mins in... so about 1 second through whole movie...
its sound is slower / pic first then audio
any ideas? -
I personally find MPC with Haali media splitter better for playback of h264/AC3 mkv's than VLC.
MPC can play a split audio/video stream (i.e. 2 separate files, like video1.AC3 and video1.mkv), they just need to be named the same (minus the extension). This might help to see where the problem was introduced.
What is the extension of your naked h264 stream? is it .264 or h264 or is it placed in a container like mkv? If it's naked, place it into a container temporarily and use MPC to see if the vdub ripped WAV is not in sync or the besweet converted AC3 is not in sync
Also, if its 1 sec constant throughout the entire film since the beginning (constant not growing), just add a -1000ms delay (you might have to fine tune it). If the sync is getting worse, you can compress the audio (to make it play faster). EDIT: with MKVmergeGUI
-
thanks PoisonDeathRay
It starts in sync then goes out as it goes on... i think its about half a second out 45mins in so its 1:48 works out about 1second-ish out by time get to end
pic 1st then audio
i tried using the STRETCH but i dunno what im to out into the box so i put 1 and no difference....
the sound needs stretching out about 1 second
the naked video is H264
EDIT:I mean SHRINKING by a second...thats right isnt it? -
At least you're making progress. Your major issue was likely that you were starting with HD DTS which is different than SD.
Typically, to accomplish shrinking your audio, you would just add blank audio at the end of the file, then adjust the total time accordingly, which will in effect "shrink" the audio.Google is your Friend -
If you mouse over the empty box, it gives you instructions on "strech"
It might take a few attempts to get it right (might take a while...). You can also shrink audio by using one of the many audio encoders in the tools section.
Going back a bit, I'm not sure why you need to convert WAV to AC3, because convertxtodvd should do this for you... and it should support something as simple as WAV audio. This would eliminate the possibility of errors introduced by besweet -
in MKVmerge will -1000 in the stretch audio box shrink it by 1 sec?
also ConvertXtoDVD DOESNT convert DTS -

I originally used VSO to encode the MKV to DVD and it kept the DTS audio
I had to use VdubMod to get the WAV file from the DTS as FOOBAR and belight wouldnt encode DTS-AC3
so can i shrink the AC3 by 1 second ? (what do i put in the box in MKVmerge)
or shall i rip the WAV again thern merge the H264+WAV together then encode to DVD?
hanging the mouse over the stretch audio doesnt make any sense to me lol
floating points? 1200/1253 fractions?
means nothing to me..normally they would have an example -

I'm still curious how you got DTS=>WAV with VDubMod. You could still check to see if the error was produced here (as outlined above by playing 2 streams separately in MPC) -
a friend from this site helped me, he got me to make a script with the MKV file and open in VdubMod then export to WAV but he says I should have left on DirectStreamCopy instead of FullProcessingMode
Ive deleted that WAV now, i will need his help to create it again...
so will i put "99.9%" in MKV merge stretch audio? -
If it's off by only 1 sec in a 1hr, 30min film, you're going to have to use something like 9999/10000 (you could calculate it out with a calculator before doing it so you don't waste 10hours on conversions
)
It says use fractions, so I'd use fractions
